Week 1 down!
Today was my 1 week weigh in and I’m proud to say I’m exactly 3 pounds down! I went from 144.6 to 141.6 pounds, which equals a 2% weight loss. If you were expecting double digit Biggest Loser numbers, it’s time to get real. I’ve seen so many people join the Ridge and get frustrated with weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week, but in my mind that’s fantastic! It’s safe, manageable, and will give you long term results versus a crash diet.
Let’s put things into perspective here. I looked up “Biggest Loser Recap Week 6” to get an idea of how many pounds people lost on the show as a percentage of their weight. Hap went from 348 to 340, Holly from 296 to 291, Matt 294 t0 290, Tumi 267 to 256. These numbers range from 1.3 to 4.1% of their body weight, and they have the added benefit of being on a ranch where they have personal trainers several hours a day, healthy food and coaching, no work, no social events to dodge, etc. So the next time you step on the scale and you lose 1 pound, feel great about it!
For my training session with Jen today, I had the pleasure of my fiancee Jon joining me. He’s in good shape, and also used to be a trainer here, but Jen made him suffer 🙂 By the end of our 30 minutes, he was not so excited about doing 30 more minutes on the stair mill with me. I powered through, making my workout today a 15 minute warmup on the AMT, 30 minutes of lower body training with Jen, and 30 minutes on the stairmill. One of the perks of getting sweaty at work–I get to shower here afterwards, which right now is a treat since both of our water heaters are broken! Paying for a wedding doesn’t necessarily allow for a $1,000 home maintenance repair; we’ll have to wait for Uncle Sam’s tax refund on that one 🙂
