As a result, one of the first items that tend to take the back seat is “us.” We get busy and either reduce or completely disregard time for ourselves. For those who value a healthy lifestyle, this means engaging in little or no exercise. Due to time constraints, time we would normally allocate to exercise is now taken up by other, “more important” tasks. However, your health is not only important for you, but also for your children, work, and others activities you enjoy such as hiking or skiing.

Here are some tips to help prioritize daily exercise into your busy routine.

  1. Map out your entire day. There are 24 hours in a day. Where could you fit in exercise?
  2. Schedule it into your day. Put it in your phone calendar (or paper calendar) and get it scheduled.
  3. Similar to brushing your teeth or washing your face, exercise is a regular part of your routine.
  4. Find ways to help you stay accountable. Work out with a friend, participate in group classes, or work with fitness professional.
  5. Realize it’s a lifestyle and you deserve it!
